Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Jordan McRae and Trae Golden each poured in 21
points to lead the Tennessee Volunteers past the Auburn Tigers, 82-75, in SEC
action at Auburn Arena.
The duo combined to shoot 16-of-18 from the free-throw line for Tennessee
(18-11, 10-7 SEC), which has made an impressive late-season charge with wins
in seven of eight. Jarnell Stokes tallied 11 points and 12 rebounds for his
13th double-double of the season.
For Auburn (9-21, 3-14), Frankie Sullivan led all scorers with 24 points, but
he was also plagued by seven turnovers. Josh Wallace netted 14 points for the
Tigers, who have lost eight in a row and remain in last place in the SEC.
Despite leading by as many as nine early in the first half, Tennessee trailed
at intermission, 35-32, after getting outshot from the field, 46.4 percent to
37.9 percent.
After the teams battle back and forth early in the second half, the Vols ran
off a 14-2 run to take a 73-62 advantage with under five minutes to play and
cruised from there.
Auburn committed 16 turnovers on the night, which Tennessee converted into 22
points.
