Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Levi Randolph had 15 points in Alabama's
much-needed 58-48 win over Tennessee in the quarterfinals of the SEC
Tournament.
Trevor Releford added 14 points for the Crimson Tide (21-11), who had dropped
three of their final four regular-season game prior to the conference
tournament.
Alabama will play top-seeded Florida in Saturday's semifinals.
Josh Richardson netted 16 points for the Volunteers (20-12), who had won nine
of their last 10 contests coming in.
Tennessee, which shot just 32.1 percent (18-of-56) from the floor, will be
sweating out a possible NCAA Tournament bid until Sunday.
Vols leading scorer Jordan McRae, who had just nine points and was saddled
with foul trouble, pulled Tennessee within 44-41 after hitting a 3-pointer
with 12:15 to play.
Alabama, though, scored the next six as Retin Obasohan made a pair of foul
shots and Nick Jacobs recorded back-to-back buckets for a 50-41 Alabama margin
with 9:03 left and the Vols never got closer than four the rest of the way.
Earlier, Releford nailed a trey with four seconds left in the opening half to
give the Crimson Tide a 31-27 cushion heading into the break.
