Missoula, MT (Sports Network) - University of Montana quarterback Nathaniel Joseph Montana, the oldest son of Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Montana, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Friday morning.

Montana, who transferred to the Grizzlies' program from Notre Dame in February, was arrested shortly before 4 a.m. MT and later released from jail after posting $685 bond, The Missoulian newspaper reported.

Montana, a 21-year-old junior, was due to report to Missoula Justice Court Friday afternoon, the newspaper added.

Last July, Montana was among 11 Notre Dame athletes arrested in South Bend, Ind., on misdemeanor charges of underage drinking at a party.

After participating in the Grizzlies' spring practice, Montana is considered in the running for the No. 1 quarterback position.
