Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Oklahoma Sooners senior defensive tackle Stacy
McGee has been suspended indefinitely for violating university policy, head
coach Bob Stoops said Friday.
McGee appeared in 12 games -- three starts -- for the Sooners last season and
recorded 22 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks. The 6-foot-4, 299-pounder has been a
regular in the defensive line rotation since 2010 and has 49 career tackles.
Stoops said that senior defensive end David King could slide inside to make up
for the absence of McGee.
"David has consistently weighed about 275-280 pounds," Stoops said. "He could
treat himself to a few more cheeseburgers and he could be 285 pounds in no
time. He has got the strength to play in there and the times he has played
in there, he has done well."
King was the team's third defensive end last season and compiled 31 tackles
and two sacks in 13 games, including five starts.
McGee is the fifth Sooner suspended by the school this offseason. Receiver
Kameel Jackson was dismissed from the team, while defensive back Quentin Hayes
and receivers Jaz Reynolds and Trey Franks are eligible to practice, but will
not be permitted to play in games.
