Dustin Johnson Getting Ready For A "Home Game"

The world's top-ranked golfer will try to secure his second major win when he competes in the PGA Championship in Charlotte.

Dustin Johnson hopes seeing familiar faces in the gallery will help this week as he tees it up in the PGA Championship.

The Dutch Fork and Coastal Carolina graduate is at the top of the world golf rankings. More importantly, he wants a second major win and what better place for that to happen than in Charlotte which is just up the road from his native Irmo.

"For this week, my family will be up watching, supporting," Johnson said.

"Got a lot of fans in this area and then obviously Columbia is not that long of a drive.

"It's kind of a home game for me."

Johnson appeared poised to earn his second major win in April as he came to Augusta on the strength of three consecutive wins. But then a fall at his rental home in Augusta the day before the Masters caused him to skip the first major of 2017 and it's been a work in progress to get back to that winning form.

"Yeah, obviously had a lot of confidence," Johnson recalled of his great play before the Masters.

"I'd just won three big events in a row. I was playing as a good a golf as I've ever played and consistently, every day.

"Just when you feel like you get on top, something happens that knocks you down. But I'm fighting back right now and I feel like the game's as good as it was, you know, before then. I'm going to continue to work hard on it and hopefully we're going to have a good week. I'll be there on Sunday."

Live coverage of the PGA Championship from Quail Hollow in Charlotte can be seen Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. on News19.
