He is coming off his first interception at Clemson and now, former Blythewood Bengal Jalen Williams will start at weakside linebacker for Clemson who hosts South Carolina State Saturday.
Williams would replace the injured Ben Boulware who is lobbying hard to play but head coach Dabo Swinney would prefer to not play the senior who suffered a high ankle sprain against Troy.
Enter Williams who signed with Clemson as a grayshirt and has made steady progress in this, his sophomore season.
"He's kind of our next man up at every spot to be honest with you," said Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney.
"He's kind our putty guy, he's the one guy who can play Sam (strongside), Mike (middle) and (Will) weakside linebacker) pretty seamlessly.
