Gamecocks Work Out In The Heat

USC head football coach Will Muschamp says he likes the way his team looks from a strength standpoint which is transforming itself in practice.

On a day when the temperature reached 93 degrees with a heat index of 104, the USC football team worked out in the afternoon in full pads - a test of physical and mental toughness, to be sure.

With a 3:00 p.m. kickoff on September 2 in Charlotte, the temperature Monday is quite comparable to what the team will deal with when it faces N.C. State at Bank of America Stadium.

The workout came two days after Saturday's first full scrimmage of the preseason and tired legs weren't an issue since the coaches gave the players Sunday off. But Monday signaled a return to the preseason grind which is almost coming to an end as in the coming days the coaches will turn preparation towards N.C. State.
