Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- When the NCAA announced its 64-team field Monday afternoon, the USC regional received plenty of in-state attention as both Clemson and Coastal Carolina will be in town this weekend.

In fact, the Chanticleers and Tigers meet Friday afternoon at high noon. The winner would get the winner of the USC-Manhattan matchup. With USC being a #8 national seed, the Gamecocks are expected to advance into the winner's bracket game on Saturday and a USC-Clemson showdown would certainly add to the electric atmosphere.

However, both coaches are not about to get caught looking ahead. USC's Ray Tanner has seen plenty of regionals where potential matchups never materialized. Clemson needs to only go back to last year when Connecticut won the regional at Doug Kingsmore to earn a trip to Columbia to face USC in the super regionals.

This will be the first time since 1976 that Clemson has played in Columbia at a regional.
