Columbia, SC (WLTX) - USC Catcher Grayson Greiner tore his lateral meniscus, a injury which will keep him out of this weekend's NCAA Regional in Columbia.

Greiner, a freshman, suffered the injury during practice Wednesday afternoon.

Dr. Chris Mazoue will perform  arthroscopic surgery on Greiner Thursday.

Greiner has started 48 of the team's 55 games this season. He's batting .236 with 6 home runs and 31 RBI. This week, he was selected to the SEC All-Freshman team.

USC plays Manhattan in their first game of the regional Friday at 4 p.m.
