After scoring seven goals against Alabama State, the USC women's soccer team found the going much tougher Thursday night in the second round.
In spite of some wizardry in the field in terms of passing and shooting, USC had nothing to show for it.
But Carolina would take advantage of a Colorado foul in the penalty box on Sophie Groff in the 74th minute of the match. Groff converted the penalty kick which turned out to be the only goal in the 1-0 USC win over the Buffaloes.
USC will host BYU Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Stone Stadium. This will be a battle of the third-ranked Gamecocks and fourth-ranked Cougars with the winner advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
