Hanna Puts Retirement On Hold

Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- In early May, Bob Hanna announced his retirement after 20 years as head football coach and athletics director at Irmo High School.

At the time, he said he would probably look for a low-pressure coaching job such as something on the middle school level. However, an opening in North Carolina will bring Hanna back to the sidelines for his 44th season of coaching high school football.

Hanna is the new head football coach at West Brunswick High School in Shallotte, North Carolina. The school is roughly 20 miles from Hanna's new home in North Myrtle Beach.

The key to this job is that he will not be pulling down 16 hour days as he did when he was an AD. Instead, his focus will be football only and that is just fine with the West Brunswick administration who needed a coach, but didn't expect to get someone like Hanna this late in the summer.
