Heathwood's Wilson Makes All-USA Team

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Heathwood Hall's A'ja Wilson has made the 2014 American Family Insurance All-USA Girls Basketball Team.

The senior averaged 34.4 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 5.4 blocks in leading her team to the AAA independent schools state title. In choosing her, the selection group mentioned Wilson's performance in that title game, where she had 37 points, 14 rebounds, and eight blocks, and hit a three-pointer to send the game into overtime.

The team was chosen by USA TODAY Sports' Jim Halley in consultation with Jason Jordan of USA TODAY High School Sports, various high school coaches, and recruiting analysts.

It's the latest honor for Wilson, who's regarded as one of the top prospects in the nation. It also comes on the same day that Wilson will announce where she'll play college ball. South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Connecticut are the finalists.

WLTX will have team coverage of the announcement on WLTX.com and later on News19.
