At 13-0-1, South Carolina has matched the best start to a season in school history. The Gamecocks, owners of the top winning percentage in Division I (.964), have won a program-record 13-straight matches and a local product has been leading the charge for the Gamecocks.
Former Irmo standout Savannah McCaskill has steadily improved since arriving on campus in 2014. She scored five goals as a freshman, 10 as a sophomore and her 11 goals in 2016 are ranked second in the SEC.
McCaskill says one of the best things about playing close to home is family and friends can make the short drive to Stone Stadium to watch her in person.
No doubt they will be there Sunday afternoon as the Gamecocks host 17th-ranked Florida at 3:00 p.m.
