Newberry To Host Tuskegee For Playoff Opener

COLUMBIA, SC (WLTX) - Newberry ended a stellar regular season by winning the SAC title on Saturday with a comeback win over Wingate and now they are headed to the Division II Football Championship tournament.
 
Newberry (10-1, 7-0 SAC) will play The Tuskegee Golden Tigers (8-2, 6-1 SIAC) in the first round of the national tournament. This is the second time in program history the Wolves will host a NCAA tournament game. The last time was in 2006 and they defeated Albany State.
 
The Wolves are the two seed and they will host. If they defeat the Golden Tigers, a seventh won won the SIAC West division, they will host their second round matchup as well.
 
Newberry will put their program record 10 game winning streak on the line on Setzler Field this Saturday at 1 pm.
