Clemson redshirt sophomore receiver Hunter Renfrow will miss at least a month with a broken hand, head coach Dabo Swinney said Monday night.
Renfrow, the starting slot receiver who has two touchdowns on four receptions and 62 yards in two games, suffered a crack at the base of his thumb during the 30-24 win over Troy on Saturday. He’ll have surgery Tuesday to repair his hand.
The injury occurred when Renfrow caught a 35-yard touchdown pass. It was initially believed that it wasn't a serious injury, but an MRI on Monday proved otherwise.
Swinney said Renfrow, a Myrtle Beach native, is expected to be out until at least the N.C. State game on Oct. 15, but he might not return until after the bye week when the No. 3 Tigers play Oct. 29 at No. 2 Florida State.
Redshirt sophomore Trevion Thompson and freshman Cornell Powell could see increased snaps while Renfrow is out.
