Columbia, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina Men's Head Basketball Coach Frank Martin has been suspended for the final game of the season because of the way he talked to players.
"The one-game suspension is a result of inappropriate verbal communication as it relates to the well-being of our student-athletes," said USC Athletics Director Ray Tanner in a statement.
The team's last game is against Mississippi State on Saturday. Martin will not travel with the team either.
Associate head coach Matt Figger will serve as acting head coach.
Martin, who's in his second season with the Gamecocks, is known for his animated and often fiery disposition on the sidelines.
While Tanner does not confirm what specifically led to the suspension, several media outlets have posted an interaction between Martin and freshman guard Duane Notice during the team's most recent game against Florida. In it, Martin can be seen shouting at Notice just a short distance away from the player's face.
