Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- In a life filled with legendary accomplishments, Henry Martin reached a major milestone Saturday as he celebrated his 90th birthday.
Martin saw a host of friends and family members come to town to help him celebrate the day which also featured an appearance by Cocky.
The first USC basketball player to reach 1,000 points in a career, Martin played at USC in 1943 and following a hiatus due to obligations in World War II, his career resumed in 1947 and he finished in 1949.
Martin credits his long and healthy life to happiness brought to him by his family which includes grandchildren who refer to Martin as "Babo" - Italian for grandfather.
Named an SEC legend at the 2012 conference tournament, Martin credits basketball with opening a lot of doors which allowed him to stay in Columbia and become a productive member of the community.
