Police: USC Player Knocked Out Victim, Kicked Officers

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - A police report says a University of South Carolina basketball player knocked out a man in Five Points, got tasered, then started to attack police who were arresting him during an incident in Five Points over the weekend.

Rakym Kanaya Felder, 18, is facing multiple charges following his arrest early Sunday morning.

The incident report says Felder was fighting an unknown person in the 800 block of Harden Street when the fight spilled out into the roadway. According to the document, Felder then sucker punched an unsuspecting bystander, causing that person to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

The responding officer says when they tried to stop Felder, he ran from them. Police eventually caught up with him in a parking lot, where they used a taser to subdue him. Officers say when they tried to place him in the transport van, he began to resist arrest, kicking and striking at officers.

He was then restrained with a seatbelt and taken to jail.

The USC athletics department confirmed that Felder has been suspended.

Felder is a freshman who's from Brooklyn, New York. However, he played his freshman year of high school at Indian Land High in Fort Mill.
