Shaq Roland Looks To Keep Reaching New Heights

Columbia, SC (WLTX) ---- When Shaq Roland arrived at USC, he had a lot of hype as the reigning Mr. Football. But the former Lexington Wildcat struggled in the transition from high school to college, not the first time that has happened to any blue-chip recruit.

But Roland made tremendous strides in his sophomore season, making six starts and leading the team with an 18.2 yards per catch average.

The junior receiver says he is a more complete player because he has made physical improvements by getting bigger and faster. Mentally, Roland says he is much farther along because he knows the playbook inside and out.

Those two factors, combined with a powerful running game to keep defenses honest, should allow Roland to showcase his talents to a greater extent in 2014.
