COLUMBIA, SC - The backcourt for USC women's basketball team is under construction you could say. Bianca Cuevas-Moore is still out with a knee injury. She hasn't played a game yet and they are discussing the possibility of red-shirting the senior guard.
USC head coach Dawn Staley said to the media on Friday that before a red shirt happens they will give all the time that the medical staff needs and Cuevas-Moore needs before coming to that decision.
Lindsey Spann who has been a great addition is also still out with a knee injury, She hasn't practiced yet but she's is nearing a return.
Tennessee transfer Te'a Cooper is awaiting final grades from the fall semester before USC submits a waiver for her to be eligible to play this season. The best case scenario is that she can be active before the end of the month.
With those three out Dawn Staley is working with only 9 players. She admits it's been tough getting her team prepared with key players out, final exams and trying to improve.
"It's a hard balance. We got a hard team that is just really having a hard time just mentally preparing for, compartmentalizing and find those [areas] to work what we need to get done out here on the court. We're just going to keep fighting until we get it done."
USC will host Savannah State this Sunday at 3 pm.
