Columbia, SC (WLTX) - For another year, the Clemson Tiger has met a fiery fate, as the annual "Tiger Burn" took place Monday night on the campus of the University of South Carolina.
Hundreds of students cheered loudly as a 30-foot tall paper and wood effigy of the Clemson mascot was lit on fire. It didn't take long to be consumed by the flames: after about four minutes, the structure was largely gone.
The Tiger Burn is part of a week of activities leading up to Saturday's Clemson-USC football game. Clemson will hold a similar ceremony, called "Death of Cocky," Friday night, where a version of USC's mascot is put in a casket.
