Spurrier: Davis Won't Start vs. A&M

COLUMBIA – South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier told the SEC Network Thursday afternoon that running back Mike Davis likely would not start Thursday against Texas A&M.

Spurrier said Davis would be in the game early -- very early -- however. He cited the fact that the junior running back missed some practices during the fall and the coaching staff likes to start players who have participated in all of the practices.

The means redshirt junior Brandon Wilds will get the start. He had three 100-yard rushing games as a freshman when filling in for Marcus Lattimore, after his first knee injury in 2011.

South Carolina enters the game ranked No. 9 nationally, while Texas A&M is rated 20th.
