Spurrier's Donations to USC Reach $1 Million

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - South Carolina Head Football Coach Steve Spurrier's total donations to the school have hit the $1 million mark, the university announced Friday.

Spurrier, who's been with the school since November of 2004, has consistently given to the school in an effort to improve facilities and help give students academic support.

"I am very blessed and fortunate to be the head coach here at South Carolina and to be able to give back to our school," said Spurrier in a statement. "Working under the direction of President Harris Pastides and Athletics Director Ray Tanner is simply the best. We have achieved a lot in the past nine years including three consecutive 11-win seasons and Top-10 finishes, along with numerous State Championships, but we still have not won an SEC title. Hopefully, we will accomplish this goal within the next few years."

The Athletics Department says they've raised over $192 million through the Garnet Way Campaign to support student-athletes, provide scholarships and academic support and construct world-class facilities. This effort is part of the university's Carolina's Promise Campaign to raise $1 billion.
