USC Commit Accused of Stealing from School

Havelock, NC (WLTX) - Police in North Carolina have charged a football star who committed to South Carolina of stealing items from a school.

Havelock police say Michael James Bowman, 18, took iPads and iPods from Arthur W. Edwards Elementary School that belonged to an employee. Police say the thefts happened between June and July while Bowman was working for a private company contracted to clean the school.

He faces 16 counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Bowman is a star wide receiver for Havelock High School, and is considered one of the top 30 prospects in North Carolina by Rivals.com. Back in March, he verbally committed to the Gamecocks.
