USC Honored for Sportsmanship During Lattimore Injury

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The University of South Carolina and Tennessee football teams are being honored for their actions in the game where Marcus Lattimore was injured.

The school presented the 2012 SEC Sportsmanship Award male athlete awardto the teams.

SEC Athletics Directors picked the winners.

During the October 27th, 2012 game,Lattimore,USC's star running back, was hurt in the second quarter. South Carolina's entire teamcircled around Lattimore in the moments after the injury to showhim support.The Tennessee football team then followed suit.

"Despite being engaged in a heated conference game, both teams set aside their battle to show support for a football player, regardless of which uniform he wore," theSEC saidin a statement. "The act displayed both great sportsmanship by the teams gathered as one support unit as well as the impact that Lattimore had on his sport."

Georgia tennis player Maho Kowase won the women's award.

The winners will be forwarded for nomination for the NCAA's national sportsmanship awards.
