Victorious Gamecocks Return Home to Columbia

Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Fresh off their Capital One Bowl victory, the South Carolina football team returned home Thursday night.

About 50 Gamecock fans greeted the team as the players got off the bus at Williams-Brice Stadium just before 7 p.m.

USC defeated Wisconsin 34-24 Wednesday to reach 11 season wins for the third straight year. Previous Coverage: USC tops Wisconsin in Capital One

"Winning 11 games, winning the bowl. it is fun," Head Coach Steve Spurrier told the crowd. "We had a super crowd of Gamecocks down at the bowl and they were a huge difference in us winning the 4th quarter and winning the ball game."

Star Jadeveon Clowney also gave a parting word to fans. The junior defensive end officiallyannounced after the bowl game that he wouldforego his senior season to enter the NFL Draft.

"Im just happy to be a Gamecock," Clowney said. "I love all my fans and all of Gamecock nation. I'm just happy to be part of everything that's going on here."

An official celebration of the bowl victory will take place January 18th at the Colonial Life Arena during the halftime of the USC-Ole Miss men's basketball game.
