Santa Clara, CA (WLTX/NFL) -- Former South Carolina Gamecocks' WR Bruce Ellington accounted for 52 yards Sunday evening as the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Denver Broncos 34-0.
Ellington saw time at wide receiver and as a kick returner in the 49ers' second preseason game. Ellington led the team with four receptions for 24 yards. He had one kick return for 32 yards, and finished with 28 yards total on two kick returns.
Ellington, a two-sport star for the Gamecocks, is fighting for a roster spot after being drafted by San Francisco in the 4th round in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Two other Gamecocks are fighting for roster spots on the 49ers. RB Marcus Lattimore did not play, as he is continuing to rehab from a major knee injury he suffered while at South Carolina. CB Chris Culliver registered two tackles against the Broncos.
The 49ers' next game is next Sunday against the San Diego Chargers.
