Sumter, SC (WLTX) --- Wilson Hall was one win away from a perfect season, but that did not take away from the accomplishments of quarterback Gibson Klapthor.
The senior was one of the players that first-year head coach Jet Turner leaned on to help with the transition. Klapthor embraced that role and his leadership was one of the reasons why Wilson Hall enjoyed a perfect regular season.
Unfortunately, the dream season ended with a 13-7 loss to Hammond in the SCISA state championship. However, Klapthor was able to end his career with a victory as he helped lead the South Carolina SCISA team to a win over North Carolina in the OASIS Shrine Bowl in Charlotte.
Turner feels his quarterback can play that position at the next level in the right system. However, the coach says Klapthor's speed and size could help him play tight end in college.
Academically, Klapthor is one of the highest-ranked students in the senior class which adds to his resume as a News19 Player of the Week.
