New York, NY (Sports Network) - Texas Rangers pitcher Matt Harrison was
named American League Pitcher of the Month for June.
Harrison posted a 5-0 record with a 1.29 earned run average over six starts
while striking out 24 hitters and walking 10 over 42 innings.
The 26-year-old left-hander is only the second Texas pitcher to win AL monthly
honors in the last 14 seasons after Kenny Rogers took home the award in May
2005.
His five wins in the month matched a club record for June as he improved to
11-3 on the season with a 3.16 ERA in 16 starts.
Other pitchers receiving votes were New York's Hiroki Kuroda, Chicago's Chris
Sale and Boston's Clay Buchholz.
