Several national pundits have gone on record saying the USC women's basketball team is Final Four material.
Those compliments came in the wake of USC's dominating 83-59 win over a Louisville team which was ranked fourth at the time.
USC head coach Dawn Staley is not worried about what people are saying about her team in late November.
"No one's been talking South Carolina until we beat Louisville," Staley said.
"Obviously, I don’t think they thought we were going to win the game, that’s number one, and we played well enough to impress them and say those things. But we’re going to really just concentrate on us and try to get better and let the experts say what they want to say."
Reigning SEC Player of the Week Alaina Coates went a little bit further. The Dutch Fork graduate feels like in spite of the nice compliments from the national pundits, there is still a segment of experts who aren't sold on the Gamecocks.
"Some people still consider us underdogs," said Coates.
"So, we kind of take that, 'let's show you're wrong' . We've been trying to prove the naysayers (wrong) for years. now."
The next step on the Prove the Naysayers Wrong Tour is a road trip to face 14th-ranked Texas in the SEC/Big Challenge.
