Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - Jackson scored the only goal of the match 11
minutes in to lift FC Dallas to a season-opening 1-0 win over the Colorado
Rapids on Saturday at FC Dallas Stadium.
Schellas Hyndman's side snagged the early lead thanks to a massive error by
Colorado goalkeeper Steward Ceus.
The goal materialized when Dallas midfielder David Ferreira sent a long ball
toward the box which Ceus came out to play, but he completely missed the ball
and Jackson was able to track it down and easily slide it into the empty net.
The home side held onto the lead and went into the break with the advantage.
After the intermission, Colorado had a few chances with the best one coming in
the 59th minute as Atiba Harris worked his way to the middle of the park and
unleashed a rising right-footed shot, but it just curled wide of the post to
keep Dallas in front.
Colorado head coach Oscar Pareja brought midfielder Tony Cascio on in the 62nd
minute in an attempt to supply an offensive spark and the traveling side did
have a couple chances late in the contest.
With four minutes to play, the Rapids had an opportunity on a corner kick, but
Hendry Thomas' glancing header was off target.
The visitors had one final chance on a corner kick in stoppage time, but the
tying goal never came to fruition and Dallas saw out the remaining
time to claim its second consecutive victory on opening day.
