London, England (Sports Network) - Day 1 of play at the $785,000 Aegon
Championships was washed out by rain on Monday.
Sixteen matches were on the Day-1 schedule, which was pushed into Tuesday,
which will now feature 24 opening-round matches on the grass courts at
London's Queen's Club, which serves as a Wimbledon tuneup.
Eight seeded men are slated for action on Tuesday, including No. 9 South
African Kevin Anderson, No. 10 Argentine David Nalbandian, No. 11 Cypriot
Marcos Baghdatis and four-time Queen's Club champion Lleyton Hewitt of
Australia. Nalbandian is a former Wimbledon runner-up, while Baghdatis is a
two-time semifinalist at the All England Club and Hewitt topped Nalbandian in
the 2002 Wimbledon finale.
The top seeds this week are British favorite, two-time winner and reigning
champ Andy Murray and last year's runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France.
Hewitt's fellow four-time Queen's Club champ Andy Roddick is also in the field
here.
The Championships will commence in two weeks.
