New York, NY (WLTX) -- The first Twist was announced a couple of weeks ago: Two-night live prime time premiere.
Wednesday afternoon on 'The Talk' from CBS, 'Big Brother' Host Julie Chen announced details of two new twists, along with a new competition being thrown into the mix for this summer's season.
Premiering Wednesday and Thursday, June 25th at 8PM and June 26th at 9PM, this installment of 'Big Brother' will feature a new twist to the game: the Houseguests will compete for two Head of Household (HOH) roles each week.
Along with the two HOHs, not two but FOUR houseguests will be nominated each week for eviction - two per HOH. Also new this season, earning HOH will not mean that houseguest will be safe in the game that week.
In another new twist, fans will have a unique opportunity to significantly influence the game from home, with a new interactive element called "Team America." CBS hasn't yet revealed the extent of power Team America will have, only that it will directly influence the game every week.
There's also a new competition being thrown into the show, "Battle Of The Block," which will disrupt the power in the house like never before. Big Brother Executive Producer Allison Grodner says this year "a houseguest can go from zero to hero, or vice versa, every week!"
As with every year, the new design for the Big Brother House will be an "Urban Tree House-themed dwelling," with a 20-foot-tall tree sculpture in the living room, branch-bound seating in the dining room, and a butcher block kitchen island made from thick slabs of eucalyptus trees.
Nestled high up over the living room is an actual tree house shack, where the houseguests can play chess. Inside the HOH suite, there will be a giant bird's nest as a bed, along with nearly 1,000 bird houses on one wall.
For the first time in its' 16-year history, Big Brother on CBS will be in high definition. Producers installed 76 HD cameras throughout the living space, replacing not only the long-used standard definition cameras but also replaced all the behind-the-scenes equipment and electronics needed to now produce the show in high definition.
After the Wednesday - Thursday two-night premiere June 25th and 26th on News 19 WLTX from CBS, Big Brother will air each week on Sundays at 8pm, beginning June 29th, Wednesdays at 8pm, and the live eviction show Thursdays at 9pm beginning July 3rd.
