Columbia, SC (WLTX) - The man in charge of the Army's largest training base will soon be handing over command.

Major General James Milano will leave his post as the head of Fort Jackson Tuesday.

During his two years there, the two-star general oversaw the start of a $1 billion renovation and expansion. He was also there for the Army's most intensive revamp of training in decades.

Brigadier General Bryan Roberts will succeed Milano as the commanding general.
