ATLANTA, GA (WXIA) -- A church employee was killed in a shooting at World Changers Church International Wednesday morning.
Investigators said the suspect, 52-year-old Floyd Palmer, entered the chapel on the church's campus and started shooting. Palmer is a former member and volunteer staffer of the church.
Fulton County officials confirmed that the victim was a 48-year-old church staff member, possibly a member of the production crew; the person's name has not yet been released.
Investigators say the victim was on stage and leading a prayer when he was shot at point-blank range. No one else was injured.
Palmer fled the scene after the shooting and is still at large. He was wearing a suit and tie during the shooting.
Investigators said Palmer may have left the church in a black car, possibly a Subaru.
The church, which is headed up by Pastor Creflo Dollar, is located on Burdett Road near Old National Highway in south Fulton County.
The church's daycare were evacuated after the shooting. Parents have been called to pick up their children.
Nearby Bethune Elementary School and McNair Middle School were temporarily on lockdown after the shooting, according to a Fulton County Schools spokesperson. The lockdown has since been lifted.
World Changers Church holds a 10 a.m. service on Wednesdays.
