Columbia, SC (WLTX) - It will be the Gamecocks vs. the Wolverines on New Year's Day.
The Outback Bowl announced Sunday that South Carolina and Michigan had accepted bids to the bowl.
The game will be played at 1 p.m. on January 1st at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. It's the fourth time USC's played in the bowl, and the first time since 2009.
USC finished the season at 10-2 (6-2 SEC). Michigan was 8-4 with a 6-2 record in Big 10 play. They did face an SEC opponent once before this season, a lopsided 41-14 rout at the hands of Alabama in the season opener.
The two teams have played twice before: 1980 and 1985. The Gamecocks won in Ann Arbor 17-14 in 1980, then lost 34-3 in Columbia in the '85 contest.
The game will also be a first for Spurrier: in all his years as a coach at Duke, Florida, and USC, he's never faced the Wolverines.
