Kershaw, SC (WLTX) - Kershaw County Deputies have arrested a man they say shot his granddaughter's boyfriend in the chest after an argument early Saturday morning.

Deputies say they responded to a shots fired call on Arrow Wood Drive in Elgin around 3:45am and found the suspect, 69-year old Heyward B. Jacobs at the residence.

Officials say Jacobs' granddaughter was living with Jacobs and they got into an argument about a truck that the she was driving earlier in the day. When the granddaughter came back to the house around 3:45am, Jacobs walked up to the driver's side door and shot the boyfriend, who was in the passenger seat, one time in the chest with a 9mm handgun.

According to deputies, the granddaughter drove the victim to Palmetto Health Richland where he was treated. Reports indicate that the round never entered the victim's chest and was more of a superficial wound.

Jacobs is being detained at the Kershaw County Detention Center. He will be charged with attempted murder.
