Columbia, SC (WLTX) -It was Carolina Day at the State House Wednesday.

Alumni and supporters of USC met with lawmakers to talk about the importance of higher education.

They're hoping lawmakers will think about how the decisions they make and how bills they passaffect the state's colleges and universities.

"We understand that as political officials they have a political life, but we try to make this not about partisan politics but about garnet and black politics," said USC President Harris Pastides. "I think the students had a civic lesson today. They saw how government works."

'This was the 10th Carolina Day.
