Blythewood, SC (WLTX) - A student brought a World War II era practice grenade to school Wednesday, triggering a brief evacuation of classes.

Richland Two Spokesman Ken Blackstone says a student brought the device toLangford Elementary in Blythewoodfor show and tell. As soon as teachers saw the device, they notified administrator who in turn immediately called law enforcement.

Richland County deputies and Richland Two security responded to the scene, and all students were pulled from class while officers investigated the matter.

They determined the device was hallowed out and was not live, and did not pose a danger to students.

Blackstone said the district takes the safety and security of staff and students seriously.
