CHESTERFIELD, S.C. (AP) - Police say a man involved in paternity dispute opened fire in front of a South Carolina courthouse, wounding a woman and her stepfather, then led police on a 12-mile chase.

Chesterfield County Sheriff Sam Parker says suspect Curtis Gorny has been charged with two counts of attempted murder.

Parker says 21-year-old Olivia Weaver was shot in the face and torso. She was at the courthouse Wednesday to get a paternity test. Her stepfather, Johnnie Nolan, was also wounded. The victims' conditions were not known.

Parker says Gorny fled from officers, firing from his vehicle before he was forced into a ditch.

The shooting comes just two days after a man authorities say was involved in a bitter custody battle fatally shot his daughter-in-law and another woman at a Delaware courthouse.
