Columbia, SC (WLTX) -Some Columbia students laced up their tennis shoes to walk for a cure for juvenile diabetes.
The children in the lower school at Heathwood Hall have been raising money all month for the cause and learning about Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as well as healthy eating and exercise.
We're told they collected more than $8,000 and to celebrate they all walked along the schools track.
Students and teachers decided to take part in the project in support of one of their 4th grade students who has Type 1 diabetes. The school also receives a banner to display at the school in appreciation for all their hard work.
