West Columbia, SC (WLTX) --- Everette Sands was first introduced to racquetball as a student at The Citadel when he took a class in the sport.
Once his college coaching career began, he was reintroduced by an Elon colleague and that's where his passion for the sports was ignited.
The USC running backs coach recently competed in the 18th annual Tournament of Aces at West Columbia's Tri-City Leisure Center.
This is the longest running racquetball tournament in the state and draws competitors from all over the state and some from North Carolina and Georgia.
Sands says when he is competing, whether it's in a major tournament or a quick match during the lunch hour, he is 100 percent focused on the matters at hand - getting in a good workout and ultimately winning.
He says his intense approach is also what he demands of his players.
