ATLANTA, GA (WXIA) -- A small electrical explosion inside a maintenance area forced an evacuation at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport Tuesday morning.
Hartsfield Jackson Airport spokesman Reese McCranie says there was a "small explosion" in a maintenance area near gate D-21. He says no injuries have been reported. He said there was no fire and no smoke from the explosion.
The maintenance area, according to officials, is on the lower level of the concourse, away from passengers.
Power to the concourse was interrupted, and passengers on the concourse were evacuated to Concourse E. Incoming and outgoing flights in the affected area have been reassigned to other gates.
Passengers have since been allowed to return to the concourse, though sporadic power outages are affecting parts of the concourse.
