Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Columbia Police seek the public's assistance in locating a van suspected in the dragging death of a man Sunday night.

According to officers, the trailer being towed by the van struck the victim shortly before 9:00 p.m.following an argument over a cell phone.

The victim apparently became snagged underneath the trailer, and was dragged over 1600 feet, later dying as a result of his injuries.

The victim's family identified him as 53-year-old Calvin Smith.

Surveillance cameras captured the van in the area of Sunset Drive and Main Street.

The vehicle pictured is a blue/silver Dodge minivan towing a white enclosed trailer, and may have windshield damage.
