Orangeburg County, SC (WLTX) - A Calhoun County deputy has been injured in a fatal collision between his patrol car and another vehicle.

The collision took place just before 9 a.m. at the intersection of Waterspring Road and Columbia Road.

Few details are known about the collision, but Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers says one of his officers was driving down the road when the other vehicle collided head on with his deputy's car.

The driver of the other vehicle, who thecoroner identified as 29-year-oldTiffany Benjamin of Orangeburg, was killed.

The deputy was taken to the hospital for treatment of an injured ankle,and herwounds are said to be non life-threatening.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
