COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Department of Juvenile Justice is celebrating the first year of its retail store and training program aimed at preparing young people for the workplace.
DJJ Director Margaret Barber on Thursday is hosting a first-anniversary celebration for the Store of Hope. The Columbia store provides on-the-job training and is stocked with goods crafted by DJJ youth.
Items include custom-painted metal palmetto trees, Adirondack chairs, decorative tiles and restored furniture.
