ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - The director of a shelter in Anderson says a man who sought help has tested positive for tuberculosis.
Sid Stewart of the Haven of Rest shelter in Anderson says the man who was there between July 19 and Aug. 5 tested positive for the disease. His name was not released.
Stewart said the Department of Health and Environmental Control quarantined the man and he is undergoing treatment.
Stewart said the shelter staff, volunteers and residents have been tested and there is no active infection.
Haven of Rest houses and feeds up to 100 people daily. It serves those who are homeless and those who have addiction problems.
Stewart would not say why the man was at the shelter or why he was taken to the doctor where he was tested.
