Lexington County, SC (WLTX) - Lexington County deputies have arrested a man they say stole beer out of a delivery truck.

Richard Eugene Richards, 40, is charged with breaking into a motor vehicle.

Officers say on just before 7 a.m.Tuesday, Richards broke into a delivery truck parked at a Circle K convenience store on Sunset Boulevard. Officers say he took 24 16-ounce aluminum bottles of Coors Light.

According to deputies, he then put the beer behind a trash can and tried to get more beer from the truck.

Deputies were called to the scene, and say they found Richards in the parking lot.

As they were searching him, officers report they found brass pipe fittings that Lexington Medical Center Public Safety officers say had been stolen from hospital maintenance vehicles. Officers at the hospital say Richards had been seen in the parking area earlier in the morning.

Richards has been served warrants in connection with thatincident as well.
