Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia held its third annual Bow Tie Run Saturday morning in downtown Columbia.

The event honors former University of South Carolina President Dr. Andrew Sorenson, a long-time supporter of Big Borthers Big Sisters. Runners were encouraged to wear a bow tie to honor Dr. Sorenson.

"We thought what better way to honor his memory than to have folks out sporting bow ties and enjoying the outdoors," said Heidi Johnson, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia.

News19's Lauren Talarico and Lionel Moise kicked off the race held on USC's campus.

All of the money raised will go toward Big Brothers Big Sisters' one-on-one mentoring programs.
