Atlanta, SC (WLTX) -The University of South Carolina freshman who was paralyzed aftera shooting last month inColumbia'sFive Points continues to recover.

The uncle of 18-year-old Martha Childress tells us his niece is getting stronger everyday in rehab and is in the process of being fitted for a wheelchair.We're told her goal is to return to USC next fall.

Childress was hit by a stray bullet last month while waiting for a cab.

Friday, News19 learned the man accused of shooting her, 20-year-old Michael Juan Smith,is now facing a federal firearm charge in connection with the shooting. He's also facing multiple charges in Richland County.
